Supporting Archaeology
The scope of an archaeological endeavor such as the QAR Shipwreck Project demands extensive resources not only during excavation, but especially in conserving the vast amount of material recovered from the site. The Friends of QAR helps to provide the necessary funding to assist with the proper and timely preservation and study of this significant archaeological asset.
Supporting Education
Given the universal fascination with shipwrecks and piracy, Queen Anne’s Revenge provides endless possibilities for engaging children and adults. The Friends of QAR supports
and participates in educational programs that not only involve history, but also in those that encourage the continued appreciation and preservation of our submerged cultural and scientific resources.
Supporting Heritage Tourism
Queen Anne's Revenge will continue to grow as an asset to heritage tourism in eastern North Carolina. By providing information, labor, and technical support, The Friends of QAR organization serves as a resource for existing tourism-based groups looking to incorporate Blackbeard and piracy into their events and exhibits.
